The cast of the new Broadway musical based on the book The Outsiders visited Will Rogers College High School to speak with middle and high school theater students.
The cast traveled to Tulsa to learn about where the story takes place. S.E. Hinton wrote the novel when she was a student at Rogers in the 60s, and the movie based on it was filmed in Tulsa.
During their visit to Rogers, the actors asked students about what the book meant to them and students got to ask the cast about the musical and their lives as actors. Then, surprising everyone in the room, they had the opportunity to hear a song from the official cast soundtrack. The students, teachers, and actors were all moved by listening to the recording of "Stay Gold" for the first time.
Superintendent Ebony Johnson also stopped by Rogers to welcome the cast and share her memories of teaching The Outsiders.
