I attended Rogers from 7th grade through my senior year. During that time I was fortunate enough to participate in a ton of different activities including student council, football, and the garden club. Rogers truly has a family atmosphere and there are endless possibilities available for everyone. I would not have been as prepared as I was for college if it had not been for the support that I received at Rogers."Will Rogers High School alumnus
Since 2011, Rogers has been the district’s flagship early college academy. Our school focuses not only on helping students get into college but also preparing them to successfully graduate with a degree. All middle school students are enrolled in either Mastering the Middle Grades, a specialized class focused on helping students cultivate the self-regulatory skills necessary for college and career success. In addition, students select another elective, such as art, drama, band, orchestra, chorus, Spanish, Russian, French, German, PE, or technology.
All students at Will Rogers must apply to be accepted to grade 6 (and grade 7 or 8 if they didn't attend Rogers the previous year) and then again apply in grade 8 (semester 2) to be accepted to grade 9. Good grades and an above-average reading score are considered.
Middle school students have the opportunity to take several classes in grade 8 for high school credit, including Algebra I, drama, art, languages, and technology.
At Rogers, we celebrate diversity and value multiple languages. Students in grades 6 and 7 are members of one of two “teams” per grade level. The 125 students on a team share the five common content teachers, traveling together through the day as a community. Named the 6th Grade Blue and Gold Teams and the 7th Grade Blue and Gold Teams, these communities are a source of pride and support for our students and teachers. Rogers Middle School houses the only secondary Dual Language program in the district, allowing elementary dual language students a place to continue receiving instruction in both Spanish and English Language Arts, as well as instruction in full Spanish in one or more content areas.
Will Rogers College High School has graduated numerous internationally renowned writers, musicians, professional athletes, artists, business owners, doctors, and academicians. Our junior and senior students have an opportunity to take college classes while still in high school. These students have acquired almost half of the nearly 8,000 college credits earned by Tulsa Public Schools students.
In addition to academics, Rogers students participate in a wide range of performing arts opportunities, including instrumental, vocal, and visual classes. After 81 years, Rogers athletes and music students finally have a new athletic stadium, which will allow the school to host football, soccer, track, and band competitions. Students at Rogers may also participate in various co-curricular programs such as student Council, E-Sports, and speech and debate. Additionally, After Opp and Tulsa Speech and Debate League have partnered with Rogers to provide students with numerous after school activities at no cost to their families.
Our 21st Century Grant partner provides our students with numerous opportunities to be engaged in after-school activities at no cost to their families. A National Historic Landmark and Architecture Digest’s choice of the Most Beautiful School in Oklahoma, a visit to Will Rogers College High School is akin to a visit to one of Europe’s greatest architectural wonders. Housed in a majestic school building, our school offers endless possibilities for academically motivated students.

History
It’s great to be great, but it’s greater to be human. Will Rogers
William Penn Adair Rogers (1879-1935) was an American humorist, actor and author best known for his Broadway and film appearances, as well as his folksy persona. Rogers was born in present-day Oologah, Oklahoma, which was then part of Indian Territory. As the son of mixedblood Cherokee parents, he grew up in a ranching family. Rogers left home as a teen, working as a cowboy and gaucho, and eventually discovered his talent and love for acting. In 1902, he was cast in Texas Jack’s Wild West show as a trick roper and rider under the stage name “The Cherokee Kid,” and later went on to create a popular, wit-latent vaudeville act with which he traveled the country. On August 15, 1935, Rogers was killed when his aircraft crashed near Point Barrow, Alaska, during a flight to Asia.
Key Contributions
In addition to his acting, Rogers wrote several books and contributed widely to magazines and newspapers. In 1926, his daily column in The New York Times established his reputation as a witty but probing critic of contemporary life. It was syndicated to approximately 500 newspapers.
Rogers’ comments on life were widely followed and almost universally quoted. Cowboys look up to Rogers -- he is still regarded as one of the greatest ropers of all time. Fine theatrical art enthusiasts also look up to him for his shrewd performance witticism that won him fame and
fortune.
Leadership
- Nicolette Dennis, Principal
- Kendra Bramlett, Assistant Principal
- Cindy Largent-Williams, Assistant Principal
Nicolette Dennis, Principal
Nicolette (Nikki) Carrell Dennis holds a BA and MA in English from the University of Idaho, an Educational Specialists Certificate from the University of New Mexico, and is presently working on an Ed.D. from the University of Oklahoma. Ms. Dennis has worked in public education since 1983 as a teacher, activities director, assistant principal, principal and cluster leader.
As a school leader, Ms. Dennis has served as the leader of two elementary schools, one comprehensive high school, one career tech school, and two early college academies. Ms. Dennis vividly recalls the first time she entered her current school, Will Rogers College JH and HS. She said that she could feel the hair on her arms standing straight up because the architecture and school is eerily similar to Pocatello High School, the school she attended. Like her alma mater, Pocatello High, Ms. Dennis believes the “hallow architecture of Rogers is a beautiful testament to the past and a prodigious monument to the future.” She believes that this gorgeous schools, with its amazing history, is an awesome place to receive an education.
Ms. Dennis became a principal because she wanted to make a difference in the lives of teachers and students. She indicated that leaving the classroom was a difficult decision to leave the classroom, because of her love of teaching English; however, she realized that she could positively impact a school community by becoming a principal and therefore decided that this was the best way to make a difference for many people. Ms. Dennis loved being a teacher and being a principal. She note that the only difference between the two is that a teacher changes lives in the classroom and the principal does it in the larger context of a school. She feels fortunate that she feels blessed to be the principal of Will Rogers.
Kendra Bramlett, Assistant Principal
Kendra Bramlett is an assistant principal at Will Rogers College High and Junior High School. She is a product of Tulsa Public Schools and a graduate of Tulsa Community College with an Associate in Arts, Langston University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, and the University of Oklahoma with a Master of Education. She began her career as a teacher with TPS in 2004. She was a founding teacher at KIPP Tulsa College Preparatory in 2005 and in her 7 years at KIPP, was an assistant principal and school leader. In 2012, Kendra decided to leave KIPP and joined the staff at Rogers, her alma mater, as an assistant principal.
Cindy Largent-Williams, Assistant Principal
Cindy Largent-Williams grew up in Tulsa, Ok and is a Tulsa Public Schools graduate. She attended Northeastern State University where she earned a BA in Secondary English Education. She then returned to the high school from which she graduated, Edison Preparatory School, and taught English for the next ten years. During this time, Cindy earned her MA in Secondary Educational Administration.
Cindy moved to Rogers in 2017 where she has worked as the Middle School Dean for the past three years, and is now the Assistant Principal for grades 8 and 9.
As the mother of three elementary school children, Cindy is a proud Tulsa Public Schools parent alongside her husband who is also a Tulsa Public School employee – TPS ALL IN! She is excited to continue to make a difference in students’ learning by working closely with teachers and the school community and serving her fellow Tulsans as a public school leader.
