The following guidelines are aligned with Tulsa Public School’s Standards of Dress. We encourage students to feel free to express their individuality. Students who elect not to conform to the dress guidelines set forth by TPS policy 2601-R, and the Rogers High School Dress Code will be subject to disciplinary actions and/or sanctions as defined by the TPS Behavior Response Plan Student and Family Guide to Success.
ID cards and lanyards shall be worn around the neck AT ALL TIMES. They are issued to new students at the beginning of the school year during schedule pick-up. Replacement ID cards cost $5.00.
Bare midriffs, low cut necklines, off the shoulder, or bare backs are prohibited.
- Garments must be of appropriate length, and must be cut and/or fit to meet these requirements while sitting and/or bending.
The following decorations/designs printed on or attached to the body or clothing are prohibited:
- Symbols, mottoes, words or acronyms that convey crude, vulgar, profane, violent, death-oriented, gang-related, sexually explicit, or sexually suggestive messages.
- Symbols, mottoes, words or acronyms advertising tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia.
- Symbols, mottoes, words or acronyms identifying a student as a member of a secret or overtly antisocial group or gang or that identifies a student as a member of an organization that professes violence or hatred toward one’s fellow man.
Tops, Shirts, Sweaters, Hoodies:
- No low cut tops for boys or girls. Undergarments must not be exposed.
- The cut of sleeveless garments must not expose undergarments.
- No spaghetti strap or strapless tops. Shoulder straps must be a minimum of the width of two fingers of the person wearing the garment.
- No sheer or thin material that exposes undergarments.
- No excessively large arm holes unless another shirt is worn underneath.
- Hoodies are allowed as long as the hood is down in the back and never worn on the head while in classrooms, hallways, and the cafeteria.
Bottoms:
- No excessively baggy pants.
- No sagging.
- No pajama bottoms.
- Students may wear leggings as long as their top is fingertip length or longer.
- No sheer or thin material for pants that exposes undergarments.
- No pants/jeans with holes above finger tips. If there are holes above finger tips, tights or leggings must be worn underneath.
- No skirts, shorts, or skorts shorter than fingertip length unless opaque tights or leggings are worn underneath.
Dresses:
- No excessively tight/body con dresses.
- No sheer or thin material that exposes undergarments.
- No dresses shorter than fingertip length unless opaque tights or leggings are worn.
Shoes:
- No house shoes, slippers, excessively thin flip-flops.
Accessories:
- Jewelry and other accessories shall not convey drugs, gangs, weapons, or violence. Jewelry/accessories that pose a safety concern for the student or others are prohibited.
- Caps, Ski Masks, Sunglasses, and Hats shall NOT be worn in the school building or classrooms unless prescribed by a physician.
COVID Masks:
- Students may wear COVID protective facemasks or gators.
- Face masks are not required; however, you are welcome to wear one.
Clothing Assistance:
- No student will be denied an education due to a bona fide financial inability to obtain clothing that complies with the school dress code. Any student for whom compliance with the school dress code poses a bona fide financial burden may submit a written request for clothing needed, together with a statement of financial need.
Penalties/Sanctions:
- Students who elect not to conform to the dress and grooming rules set forth by this policy will be subjected to disciplinary actions and/or sanctions as defined by the district’s Behavior Response Plan and will be required to wear school uniform.
- The fact that something is not specifically listed is not a valid excuse for dressing in a manner contrary to, or is not complementary to, or respectful of the intent outlined by this uniform code. Students who elect not to conform to the dress and grooming rules set forth by TPS policy 2601-R, and the Rogers Uniform Code will be subject to disciplinary actions and/or sanctions as defined by the TPS Behavior Response Plan Student and Family Guide to Success.
- Administration reserves the authority to determine any specific individual garment, or item non-compliant with the dress code.
