I am excited to be a part of Will Rogers. This is my 20th year with Tulsa Public Schools. I began my career in the Kindergarten classroom and moved into the library while attending classes through the University of Oklahoma to achieve my Masters in Library and Information Studies. Prior to my work in the MLIS program, I earned a BS in Education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Oral Roberts University of Tulsa.
In 2004 I was honored to receive the Polly Clarke Award for outstanding school library media services, and in 2007 I achieved National Board Certification. These recognitions support my belief that through effective libraries, students will develop the confidence to use information resources for lifelong learning. I constantly strive to find ways to draw the entire learning community into the information world, helping them achieve information literacy, as well as a love of reading.
I have a 14-year-old son, a 14-year-old step daughter, and a 8-year-old daughter. In my spare time I love to camp, hang out with my family and friends and of course read.
